INFRARED DETECTOR (IRD)
Unique Design
The IRD is the first Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometer (FT-IR) designed with an internal flow cell for GC analysis. The result is an instrument that requires a minimum of bench space with optimized, dedicated optics for highest sensitivity. The IRD software has been designed to interface with GC or MSD software and provides instrument control, data acquisition and analysis in real time.

GC/IR and GC/MS are both very powerful analytical tools. GC/IR provides molecular level analysis without destroying the compound. GC/MS provides mass fragmentation data and molecular weight but not geometric model information. With the addition of the ASAP Analytical Magnum Transferline, the IRD can be interfaced to the MS and provides both mass and structural information from a single GC injection.
Essential FTIR Data Analysis Software simplifies the process of collecting and analyzing IRD data. The user-friendly software includes simple to use tab-based navigation and is easily integrated with the current IRD Control Software. The ability to overlay data, 3-Dimensional & Contour Plots and Library Searching are all part of the data analysis package. The software also allows customers to use previously constructed libraries and older data files to create and expand existing vapor phase libraries.
The Selected Wavenumber Chromatogram (SWC) is a feature found in the data analysis software. The SWC allows the chemist to quickly filter the Total Response Chromatogram (TRC) produced by the IRD to look for specific functional groups in a complex matrices. The SWC is similar to the Extracted Ion Chromatogram (EIC) familiar to MS users and allows the user to reduce the complexity of the TRC.
